Texas registrations now include the business’s franchise-tax standing from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, alongside its Secretary of State status.
Every registration returned by GET /businesses/{id}, GET /businesses/{id}/registrations and GET /registrations/{id} now carries a metadata array. For a Texas registration with Comptroller data, it contains an entry with:
  • source: texas_comptroller
  • status: active, inactive or unknown
  • status_description: the Comptroller’s own wording, for example Franchise Tax Forfeited
  • taxpayer_number: the Texas taxpayer number
The Comptroller often flags a business that has lost its right to transact business months before the Secretary of State does, which makes the two disagreeing an early warning sign. For Texas businesses, the KYB score now also considers this standing, separately from the Secretary of State registration status, with the two counting equally. A business that is active with the Secretary of State but has forfeited its franchise-tax standing will score lower than before. When the standing is unknown (for example, for tax-exempt entities), only the Secretary of State status is used. See Scores & Ratings. In the console, the KYB report shows a new Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts section below Secretary of State, and SoS filings flag any registration where the two sources disagree. metadata is an empty array for registrations outside Texas. No integration changes required.
