# KYB Score Settings: Unknown Registration Status and Missing Addresses

> Nov 2, 2026

Admins can now choose how the KYB score treats two cases of missing state data, from the new **KYB Score** section of **Settings** in the console. \
**Unknown registration status:** when every US Secretary of State registration a business has carries an unknown status, either leave the status check out of the score (the default and current behavior) or score it the same as an inactive registration.

**No address on file:** when a business has no address in any of its US Secretary of State registrations, either score the address check as a state-level match (the default and current behavior) or leave the address out of the score. Addresses that are on file but don't match are still scored either way, and `business_address_match` reports the same value under both options.

Both settings apply to new US business searches and to portfolio monitoring. Searches that already ran keep the score they were given, and a monitored business picks up a change on its next monitoring run. International business searches are not affected. See [Account Settings](https://docs.baselayer.com/docs/account-settings.md) and [Scores & Ratings](https://docs.baselayer.com/docs/baselayer-scores-ratings.md).

Nothing changes unless an admin changes a setting. No integration changes required.
